Job Description
What will you be doing?
As a EC&I Engineer you will join a team in Warrington to support our activities within the Nuclear Sector. We are looking for EC&I Engineers will have a strong background in electrical, control, and instrumentation engineering, with experience in designing, developing, and maintaining systems across industrial or high-tech environments. These engineers should be familiar with the industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Translate high-level requirements into detailed technical specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards such as IEC 61513, IEC 61227, and IEC 61508.
- Create detailed designs for electrical, control, and instrumentation systems, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts.
- Collaborate with vendors to source and manage equipment, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and timelines.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Proficient in relevant design and simulation tools (e.g., ETAP, EPLAN)
- Knowledge of grid codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
Desirable Skills:
- Background in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation engineering
- Experience working on industrial or safety-critical projects
- PLC programming and fault-finding (Siemens, Rockwell / Allen-Bradley, Schneider)
- SCADA / HMI development and commissioning
- Control panel design, wiring diagrams and schematics
- Instrumentation selection, calibration and loop checking
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Profibus, Profinet, Modbus, Ethernet/IP)
- Understanding of control systems and PID loops
- Experience with low voltage electrical systems.
- Exposure to hazardous or regulated environments (defence, energy, oil & gas, nuclear)
- Site commissioning and testing experience
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
