Job Description

Play a critical role in securing civil aerospace systems from cyber threats across their operational lifecycle. At ALTEN, we’re supporting projects that require rigorous cybersecurity planning, verification, and certification to meet modern aviation standards. As a Cybersecurity Certification Engineer, you’ll contribute to the development of high-integrity systems by producing security artefacts in line with industry-leading standards. This is your opportunity to operate at the intersection of aerospace engineering, compliance, and cybersecurity – shaping how products stay secure in service.

Key Details:

Location: Hybrid – Derby (2 days/week on-site)
Experience Level: 5+ years’ experience in Cybersecurity or Systems Engineering

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop certification-specific cybersecurity documentation in line with ED-202A, ED-203A, and AMC 20-42
  • Analyse and interpret security test results, threat scenarios, and system vulnerabilities
  • Conduct refutation analysis of assumptions and contribute to risk mitigation strategies
  • Define and finalise the Security Verification & Validation Plan and associated activities
  • Create formal ED-202A artefacts, including:
    • Product Cyber Security Management Plan (PCSecMP)
    • Vulnerability Dossier
    • System Security V&V Strategy and Plan
    • Contribute to the Plan for Security Aspects of Certification Summary (PSecAC)

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of ED-202A, ED-203A, or equivalent aerospace cybersecurity standards
  • Experience working with EASA, AMC 20-42, or DO-326A frameworks
  • Skilled in writing structured certification documentation for regulated environments
  • Familiarity with cyber risk analysis, V&V planning, and vulnerability assessments
  • Experience within civil aerospace, avionics, or safety-critical sectors
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Systems, Cybersecurity, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering)
  • OR a relevant technical military background within UK aerospace or high-integrity engineering projects

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with DO-326A, DO-178C, or similar safety/security-critical standards
  • Knowledge of airborne platforms, embedded systems, or in-service product threats
  • Exposure to MBSE, risk modelling, or cybersecurity toolsets
