About the team in Sweden
Out of AFRY’s Infrastructure Divisions 6,500 employees approximately 100 are Geotechnical professionals in the Swedish organisation. The team in Gothenburg currently has 15 experts specialized in rock engineering and related geotechnical services. The team’s main focus is on large infrastructure projects where we provide services in rock engineering for various types of rock constructions like tunnels, underground stations and rock cuts. Typical work tasks include analysis, design, reinforcements, foundations and buildability. We often work in multidisciplinary teams and take leading roles in our projects.
Job Description
Your role, your entry point at AFRY
As a Geotechnical Engineer at AFRY, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects that will make a real impact. Through the Design Center you will collaborate with a team of highly skilled professionals in Sweden, use cutting-edge technology, and play a pivotal role in delivering innovative solutions for our clients.
Our key responsibilities
- Design and engineer different types of rock constructions
- Analyse and provide reports based on rock mechanical investigations
- Be responsible for advanced geotechnical calculations
- Use the Q-system, RMR and GSI to classify rocks
- Establish and deliver drawings and 3D-models
Qualifications
We expect that you have
- A qualified degree in rock mechanics or geotechnical engineering with rock mechanics as part of the education, or a qualified degree in geology including rock mechanics is also valid as education.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in rock mechanics with the ability to handle analytical and numerical analyses on rock mechanic problems.
- Experience in reviewing calculations prepared by other consultants
- Knowledge in rock mechanic software tools like RocScience suite, Flac2D/3D, UDEC.
- Good written and verbal English language (CEFR minimum level B1).
- Working knowledge of CAD (parametric and/or direct modelling) is positive.
- Good working knowledge of relevant MS Office applications.
We appreciate if you have
- Knowledge of Trimble/Novapoint and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads or Rhino/Grasshopper
- Competence regarding sheet piles, retaining walls, pile foundations and earth reinforcements.
