We are now looking a trainee to our Management Consulting team with a focus on energy systems, power markets, heating solutions, decarbonization and/or green fuels.

AFRY Management Consulting provides leading-edge consulting and advisory services for the energy, bioindustry, infrastructure, industrial and future mobility sectors.

Our team in Vantaa consists of over 50 supportive colleagues who boost your development and are curious about your ideas. Some examples of our work include strategic advice for energy companies and due diligence for asset and company transactions. In addition, some of our recent public work include a study on the impact of CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) on value chains in Finland, options for new nuclear power in Finland, impact of data centres on power price in Finland and a study about future of domestic fuels in Finland.

As a Trainee in the Management Consulting team you will work in a team of typically 3-5 consultants in client projects within fields such as power markets, heating, decarbonization and/or with varying scope and responsibilities, such as:

• Market research e.g. interviews, data analysis and forecasting
• Support in financial analysis e.g. cash flow modelling
• Support in techno-economic analysis e.g. cost and operations analysis
• Developing and updating AFRY’s internal tools and databases related to energy
• Develop presentation slides and report segments covering your work

Trainee period is expected to be from May to August, with flexibility around start and end dates and possibility of extension.

Who are we looking for?

You are a Master’s student in Engineering, Natural Sciences or Business at the end of your studies with good academic performance. Ideally, you will have a year of study left at the start of the trainee period. 

You are willing to take a task on your own initiative and be in charge of delivering high quality end result. You are comfortable with ambiguous problems and have the ability to break them down and solve through quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Working as a Trainee in the team also requires:

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team of both local and international colleagues
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
• Excellent analytical, numerical and problem solving skills and very good command of MS Office tools (mainly Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
• Fluency in English, Finnish is considered as an advantage
• A strong interest in energy systems, power markets, heating solutions, decarbonization and/or green fuels
• We also are interested in people with modelling/code writing skills, e.g. Python
