Job Description
AFRY Management Consulting is looking for strong candidates to take a senior role in our growing New York City Office - Management Consulting Team focused on energy transition. The selected individual will serve as a member of the North American energy transition senior team and will lead the Market Analysis Service Line for the US and Canada reporting to the Head of North American Energy Practice.
Your responsibilities
- Lead and supervise teams in the execution of large-scale consulting projects
- Manage complex quantitative and qualitative analyses
- Contribute to the development of our offerings and tools
- Build long-term, trust-based relationships with our clients
- Identify key client business issues sales opportunities
- Develop and present proposals for consultancy projects
- Thought leadership in one or more areas and serve as the subject matter expert
Qualifications
Your profile
- Undergraduate degree in a technical, financial, or economic field
- MBA or Master's or Ph.D. degree preferred
- 12+ years of experience in consulting or industry or other advisory roles with a focus on power market analysis/market modelling covering the US and/or Canada
- Working experience in one or more of the following power markets: CAISO, ERCOT, NYISO, PJM, ISO-NE, SPP, MISO, Ontario, and Alberta
- Experience working commercial production cost and capacity expansion modeling software: BID3, PLEXOS, PROMOD, Gridview, Aurora, GE MAPS, Dayzer etc.
- Knowledge of power flow modelling and nodal analysis will be a plus
- Ability to translate model outputs and articulate impact of results on client decisions
- High level of quantitative & analytical skills with relevant work experience in quantitative energy analysis
- Knowledge of U.S. power industry structures, policies, regulations, and market fundamentals
- Strong understanding of recent trends in the conventional generation, renewables, energy storage, distributed generation, and transmission development
- Experience developing and working with financial models
- Should demonstrate experience in leading teams and the ability to supervise and serve as the SME for junior team members
- Track-record in managing complex projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with PowerBI or Tableau for data analysis, visualization, and dashboard development
- Experience using one or more scientific programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB will be a plus
- Business travel may be required from time to time domestically but not to exceed 10% of the time
