Job Description
Job overview
Associates are responsible for supporting our project teams with research and insights regarding local energy market(s). They interact with Project Managers to scope and define the specific research questions to answer, as well estimate the amount of time required to complete the task(s).
The expected average level of contribution would be approximately 2-10 hours per week during periods when we have a project focusing on Japan (approximately 6 months per year). There will be some flexibility with tasks and timing, depending on the Associate’s availability in a given week or month.
All projects relate to the energy sector; typical projects focus on power market modelling; decarbonisation analyses and strategy; assessments of energy markets, policies, and regulations; market and commercial due diligence related to energy sector transactions; and developing new techniques for projecting market price sand energy sector evolution.
Responsibilities and duties (Japan Associate)
- Work with relevant AFRY Project Manager to define the scope and schedule for each task.
- Conduct research in English and Japanese language, utilizing familiarity with the Japan energy market (especially the electricity sector), to perform the tasks requested by the Project Manager.
- Provide periodic updates, as required, to the Project Manager, regarding the tasks assigned.
- Track hours spent and deliver associated invoices to AFRY.
- Comply with AFRY’s Code of Conduct and other policies.
Qualifications
- Associates are likely to have 3+ years of experience in the Japanese energy/power market.
- Fluency in English and Japanese language.
- Ideally, a strong understanding of Japanese market energy/electricity markets and dynamics.
- At least a Bachelor’s degree, typically in Economics, Finance, Business, or Engineering from a leading university; however we also welcome candidates from other relevant backgrounds.
