Job Description
South Pacific Meats is seeking a suitably Experienced Boiler Operator for their Awarua Plant in Invercargill.

We’re on the lookout for a skilled Boiler Operator to join our dynamic team at a busy processing site equipped with both electric and gas-fired boilers. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where safety, efficiency, and teamwork are top priorities.
As our Boiler Operator, you’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our boiler systems, which play a critical role in powering our site. You’ll work with a mix of electric and gas boilers, ensuring they’re operating at peak performance and maintained to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, and maintain electric and gas boiler systems.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Monitor gauges, meters, and control systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve boiler-related issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of operations and maintenance.
- Comply with all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
Qualifications
The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate the following key requirements for the role:
- A proactive approach to maintenance, ensuring that production departments experience minimal down time due to engineering requirements
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a variety of priorities and demands
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Appropriate experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ensures the site operates within its resource consent conditions at all times
- A strong commitment to upholding health and safety standards
- Applicants may be required to work on a rotating shift structure and must be available for call-outs
Candidates must hold a National Certificate in Energy and Chemical operations - boiler operation Level 3.
