Working closely with Project Directors, Project Managers, commercial teams, delivery partners, clients and subcontractors, you will provide the controls, analysis and insight required to support informed project decision-making and successful delivery.
You will be responsible for ensuring robust project controls systems, processes and reporting are in place across schedule, cost, change, scope, progress and performance.
Key responsibilities:

- Develop and implement comprehensive project controls procedures, systems and processes.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of accurate project schedules, including critical path analysis, resource loading and resource levelling.
- Monitor project performance and provide meaningful analysis, reporting and insights to Project Management and senior stakeholders.
- Lead and support scope control and change management processes, ensuring changes are appropriately identified, assessed, tracked and communicated.
- Conduct root cause analysis and identify opportunities to improve project performance.
- Develop and maintain tracking systems to monitor subcontractor funding, work authorisations and expenditure.
- Maintain detailed change order tracking and ensure the Project Management team has clear visibility of change status.
- Review and analyse project data, including information generated through automated project systems, to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
- Support project budgeting and the management of incentive programs.
- Develop strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key project stakeholders.
- Participate in client and subcontractor negotiations, providing project controls and commercial insight.
- Contribute to project staffing decisions and broader organisational planning.
- Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to project controls professionals.
- Support the identification and resolution of performance issues and drive a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the development of commercial strategies and participate in commercial negotiations as required.
Qualifications
What you’ll bring:
We are looking for an experienced project controls professional who can operate confidently within a complex, high-value project environment and bring a combination of technical expertise, commercial understanding and leadership.
You will ideally bring:
- Significant experience in project controls, ideally within major infrastructure, construction, engineering or complex capital programs.
- Demonstrated experience leading project controls across large or complex projects.
- Strong expertise across planning and scheduling, cost control, change management, scope control and project reporting.
- Advanced understanding of critical path analysis, resource loading and resource levelling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, including experience conducting root cause analysis.
- Experience developing and implementing project controls procedures and systems.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience contributing to negotiations.
- The ability to interpret complex project data and translate it into clear, actionable insights.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, delivery partners and subcontractors.
- Strong leadership capability and the confidence to influence project teams and senior stakeholders.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-profile program environment.
