Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity in Dublin, Ireland, for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our Highways, Active Travel and Infrastructure team of more than 150+staff.
AECOM are recognised as market leaders in highways, public transport and active travel. The team continues to deliver high-profile and impactful projects across the island of Ireland.
Based in our growing Dublin team, you’ll work within a positive and collaborative environment alongside experienced engineers and a locally based senior management team. You’ll also be enrolled in the AECOM ADVANCE Graduate Development Programme, designed to support your professional and personal development as you build your career with AECOM.

You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team, gaining hands-on experience with industry-leading tools and contributing to projects at all stages, from early feasibility and planning through to detailed design, construction support and contract administration.
You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to projects including an extensive greenway programme for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and Local Authorities, active travel and public transport schemes, technical advisory work, and major infrastructure projects such as:
- Roads: Major road schemes including the N25 Midleton to Youghal Transport Project (Co. Cork), N2 Rath to Kilmoon (Co. Meath), N3 M50 to Clonee, N4 Mullingar to Longford (Co. Westmeath and Co. Longford), N17 Milltown to Gortnagunned (Co. Galway), M21 Adare Bypass (Co. Limerick), M21 Adare to Attyflin, Carlow Southern Relief Road & Multi Modal Corridor (Co. Carlow), N54 Tullybryan Realignment (Co. Monaghan), A24 Ballynahinch Bypass (Co. Down), and Newry Southern Relief Road (Co. Down).
- Public Transport: Delivery teams for the TII Luas Programme, the NTA BusConnects Programmes, NTA Bus Stop Design Team, multiple major Irish rail projects, and the Metrolink.
- Greenways: A vast programme of Greenways (>300km) in the Republic of Ireland for TII and Local Authorities, including major greenway schemes like Barnesmore Gap Greenway and Carrigans to Lifford Greenway in County Donegal, the West Cork Greenways – Skibbereen Sections, and the Galway-Oughterard Greenway.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or similar. International applicants will hold an equivalent Degree recognised by the International Engineering Alliance (from a signatory of the Washington Accord).
- Relevant modules, coursework or experience in highways, infrastructure or transportation would be an advantage
- Enthusiastic, hard-working and technically proficient, with ambition and drive
- Good report writing and technical communication skills would be beneficial
- Ability to structure and prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the wider team
- Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently, while demonstrating initiative and focus
- Good communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to colleagues, clients and other stakeholders
- Willingness to develop professionally and work towards relevant professional accreditation or chartership
