AECOM India is seeking a young, dynamic, and experienced Mechanical BIM Specialist to join our Chennai office. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of an innovative, highly motivated team of mechanical engineering professionals delivering projects across India and globally.

This position offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging and internationally recognized projects, supporting the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions. The role is focused on Mechanical Engineering and BIM specialization, requiring a strong understanding of engineering design principles, BIM standards, and project coordination methodologies.

The successful candidate will contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects involving Owner's Engineering, Design & Engineering, Project Management Services, Feasibility Studies, and Concept Design across several key infrastructure sectors, including:

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate detailed 3D BIM models for HVAC, piping, mechanical equipment, and associated systems.
  • Produce construction documentation including plans, sections, elevations, schedules, and detailed drawings from BIM models.
  • Generate BOQs and material take-offs directly from Revit models.
  • Prepare coordinated production drawings in accordance with project requirements, BIM Execution Plans (BEP), and company standards.
  • Manage drawing sets, revisions, markups, document control procedures, and deliverables in PDF, DWG, and hard-copy formats.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary models and perform model federation, geo-location, and clash detection activities.
  • Conduct BIM reviews, quality checks, model audits, and coordination workshops.
  • Utilize Autodesk Navisworks for clash detection, model review, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Support the development and implementation of BIM standards, workflows, and best practices.
  • Create project visualizations, renderings, and presentation material as required.
  • Coordinate BIM deliverables with internal teams, clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Assist with BIM collaboration through Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and related platforms.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, B.E., or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of BIM modeling experience in Mechanical Building Services.
  • Experience in large-scale projects such as Data Centers, Healthcare, Aviation, Infrastructure, Semiconductor, Advanced Manufacturing, or Commercial Facilities.
  • Strong proficiency in:
    • Autodesk Revit MEP (Mechanical)
    • AutoCAD
    • Autodesk Navisworks
  • Experience in HVAC, piping, plant room, and mechanical equipment modeling.
  • Knowledge of BIM coordination, clash detection, BIM standards, and model management.
  • Experience in quantity take-offs, schedules, and BIM-generated documentation.
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) is preferred.
  • Understanding of building construction methodologies and engineering drafting standards.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams and deliver high-quality outputs within project schedules.

  • Experience working in highly coordinated BIM environments with Architecture, Structural, and MEP disciplines.
