Job Description
Position Overview
The Jr. Safety Engineer shall report to Sr. EHS Manager and be responsible for monitoring implementation of Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements across airport development projects. The role involves conducting site safety inspections, monitoring contractor compliance, identifying and escalating unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and safety risks, supporting incident investigations, and ensuring adherence to approved EHS plans, statutory requirements, airport operational safety requirements, and applicable aviation standards. The position shall support safe project execution while maintaining productivity and compliance across terminal buildings, airside works, landside infrastructure, utilities, support facilities, and airport systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor implementation of the Project EHS Management Plan and contractor safety programs.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Ensure compliance with approved EHS plans, permit-to-work systems, and safety procedures.
- Identify, record, and escalate unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and safety risks.
- Review risk assessments, method statements, and safe work procedures for construction activities.
- Monitor high-risk activities including working at height, lifting operations, excavation, confined space entry, electrical works, and hot works.
- Verify compliance with PPE requirements, housekeeping standards, traffic management plans, and emergency procedures.
- Support incident, accident, and near-miss investigations and track corrective actions.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, inductions, and awareness programs.
- Monitor environmental compliance, waste management, and pollution control measures.
- Maintain safety inspection records, registers, reports, statistics, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and project teams on EHS matters.
- Support emergency preparedness exercises, mock drills, and response activities.
- Identify safety risks and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
- Prepare EHS reports, audit findings, compliance summaries, and management updates.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or any related discipline.
- NEBOSH, IOSH, Diploma in Industrial Safety, CSP, or equivalent professional safety certification shall be preferred.
- Overall 5-10 years of experience in construction safety, EHS management, or occupational health and safety.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in airport and aviation infrastructure projects is essential.
- Experience in contractor safety management, site safety inspections, risk assessments, permit-to-work systems, and incident investigations.
- Experience working with PMC Consultants, EPC Contractors, Airport Operators, Consultants, or Client-side project teams.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001, applicable safety regulations, airport operational safety requirements, and statutory compliance obligations.
