Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Project Analyst III to join our Waterloo, Iowa team supporting a diverse portfolio of projects across our Aviation, Transportation, and Water business lines. This role will support projects ranging from transportation infrastructure, bridges and structures, and aviation facilities to water and other complex infrastructure programs.
The Project Analyst III will serve as a key resource to Project Managers and Operations Leaders by managing project financial information, forecasting, analyzing performance, and identifying trends and risks. The successful candidate will be highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple financial, project management, scheduling, and reporting platforms. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to QA/QC of project documentation and financial data are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project controls and financial activities from project setup through closeout, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, reporting, and financial analysis.
- Establish and maintain project budgets, work breakdown structures (WBS), cost baselines, and project controls systems.
- Monitor project budgets, expenditures, commitments, revenue, profitability, and cash flow, identifying trends, variances, and potential risks.
- Develop and maintain monthly project forecasts, including estimates at completion (EAC), labor hours, costs, and revenue.
- Analyze project cost, schedule, progress, and performance data and provide recommendations to Project Managers and Operations Leaders.
- Support earned value management, progress measurement, change management, contingency tracking, and risk analysis.
- Perform QA/QC of project financial information, reports, documentation, and data across multiple systems and platforms.
- Coordinate and review monthly project billing, including contract terms, approved rates, expenses, subcontractor costs, and project progress.
- Track purchase orders, subconsultant and subcontractor commitments, expenditures, and outstanding invoices.
- Prepare project financial reports, forecasts, and management summaries for project and operational leadership.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Operations Leaders, and finance teams across Aviation, Transportation, Bridges and Structures, and Water projects.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications
- 8 years of experience in project controls, project accounting, financial management, scheduling, or a related role.
- Experience supporting engineering, construction, infrastructure, or other professional services projects.
- Demonstrated experience using project financial systems, and project management and reporting platforms.
- Working knowledge of project controls principles, including WBS, cost and schedule baselines, forecasting, earned value, progress measurement, and change management.
- Strong attention to detail with experience performing QA/QC of financial information, project documentation, reports, and data across multiple systems.
- Working knowledge of project revenue, cost, billing, purchase orders, subcontract commitments, and accounts receivable processes.
- Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and demonstrated ability to effectively use multiple project controls, financial, scheduling, and reporting platforms.
