Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a experienced Structural Designer with over 10 years of expertise in the structural design and detailing of Hydropower and Pumped Storage Projects. The candidate will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and coordinating structural drawings and 3D models for complex hydroelectric infrastructure, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements.
The ideal candidate should have worked on large-scale underground and surface hydroelectric facilities from concept through detailed engineering and construction support.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review detailed structural design drawings and construction drawings for hydropower and pumped storage projects.
- Prepare structural layouts, reinforcement detailing, steel detailing, and General Arrangement (GA) drawings for:
- Dams (Concrete Gravity, RCC, and Earth/Rockfill)
- Intake structures
- Spillways
- Powerhouses (Surface and Underground)
- Transformer caverns
- Surge shafts and surge chambers
- Pressure shafts and penstocks
- Tailrace tunnels and outlet structures
- Cable tunnels and utility galleries
- Coordinate closely with Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, Hydraulic, Mechanical, Electrical, and Geological engineering teams.
- Ensure structural drawings are aligned with engineering calculations, design reports, specifications, and applicable standards.
- Review vendor drawings and integrate equipment interface requirements into structural layouts.
- Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews, model reviews, constructability reviews, and value engineering exercises.
- Ensure compliance with project quality procedures, drawing standards, and document control requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior structural designers and drafting personnel.
- Support site engineering teams by resolving drawing-related queries and issuing revisions during construction.
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and contractors during engineering and execution phases.
- Ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables while maintaining high quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (B.E./B.Tech).
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering
Additional Information
- Familiarity with structural analysis outputs from software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, MIDAS Civil, or similar.
- Knowledge of reinforcement detailing and structural steel detailing.
- Experience with BIM workflows and clash detection.
