The Opportunity

We are seeking a Junior Architectural Technologist to join our Architecture & Design Studio and become part of a growing technical team delivering innovative, digitally enabled projects across a wide range of sectors.

This is an exciting opportunity to:

You will join a high-performing multidisciplinary team spanning architecture, engineering, digital, and consulting services, working on some of the most technically challenging and innovative projects in the built environment.

Your Role

As a Junior Architectural Technologist, you will contribute to technical design delivery, BIM authoring, and project coordination across a range of sectors and project types.

Working under the guidance of experienced technical leaders, including our Senior Architectural Technologist, you will develop the skills and experience needed to become a future technical specialist within the practice.

You will:

  • Support the production and coordination of technical design information across RIBA Stages 3 to 5
  • Develop BIM modelling and digital delivery expertise using industry-leading tools and workflows
  • Contribute to technical libraries, BIM content, and standardised design solutions
  • Support project teams in delivering coordinated, compliant, and buildable design information
  • Build a strong understanding of construction technology, technical detailing, and project delivery

This role provides an excellent platform for developing technical expertise while contributing to the future of design and construction delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Design & Project Delivery

  • Support the production and coordination of technical drawings, models, schedules, specifications, and project information
  • Assist with the development of coordinated technical design packages using Autodesk Revit and BIM workflows
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and project teams to support design coordination and technical delivery
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, schedules, specifications, and project documentation
  • Help resolve technical and coordination challenges throughout project delivery
  • Support construction-stage activities, including technical reviews, design updates, and information management
  • Develop an understanding of buildability, construction sequencing, and technical design best practice

BIM & Digital Delivery

  • Create and maintain BIM models in accordance with project requirements and digital delivery standards
  • Support project teams in applying BIM methodologies, information management processes, and Common Data Environment (CDE) workflows
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of Revit content, BIM libraries, and reusable technical resources
  • Gain experience using digital tools that improve project coordination, efficiency, and design quality
  • Develop knowledge of model coordination and multidisciplinary digital delivery processes
  • Support the adoption of best practice BIM and digital delivery standards across projects

Construction Innovation & Technical Development

  • Develop an understanding of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA), Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), and emerging construction methodologies
  • Support the development of BIM content, standard details, and reusable technical resources
  • Learn how digital technology and innovation are transforming design and project delivery
  • Engage with supplier, manufacturer, and technical information to support coordinated project outcomes
  • Contribute ideas and innovative approaches that improve efficiency, coordination, and quality

Quality & Compliance

  • Develop knowledge of Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, British Standards, and other industry guidance
  • Support quality assurance and technical review processes
  • Help ensure project information is coordinated, accurate, and delivered to required standards
  • Build an understanding of construction systems, materials, and technical detailing principles
  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality technical information across project teams

Learning & Professional Development

  • Participate in AECOM's Advance Early Careers Programme
  • Work alongside experienced architects and technologists through mentoring and structured development opportunities
  • Develop technical, digital, and professional skills through project-based learning
  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement initiatives across the studio
  • Work towards professional accreditation and long-term career progression within AECOM

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree, HND, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Architectural Technology, Architecture, or a related built environment discipline
  • Up to 4 years' industry experience within an architectural, technical design, or BIM environment
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit and BIM authoring principles
  • Understanding of construction technology and technical design fundamentals
  • Strong communication, organisation, and collaboration skills
  • Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and digital workflows
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and work within multidisciplinary teams
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Preferred Experience

  • Working towards ACIAT, CIAT, or equivalent professional accreditation
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM collaboration platforms
  • Awareness of DfMA, MMC, off-site manufacturing, or industrialised construction approaches
  • Exposure to Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper, Autodesk Inventor, or computational design tools
  • Exposure to Adobe Suite – Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.
  • Familiarity with Navisworks, Solibri, Revizto, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar platforms
  • Interest in automation, emerging technologies, and the future of digital design
