Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Electrical Engineer with an interest in renewable energy systems, solar PV, BESS, and medium voltage (MV) grid connections to join our growing energy engineering team.
The ideal candidate will have a solid academic background in electrical engineering and some exposure to solar power system design, MV/HV network integration, and grid connection requirements, with a willingness to learn from experienced engineers and contribute to successful project delivery. Familiarity with AutoCAD, PVsyst, and electrical design tools is an advantage.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional who is eager to develop technical skills in multidisciplinary renewable projects and contribute to efficient, reliable, and sustainable electrical engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Renewable Electrical Design Support
- Assist in the electrical design of utility-scale solar PV and hybrid renewable systems, including MV distribution up to 66kV.
- Support the development of single-line diagrams (SLDs), cable routing, inverter station layouts, and substation or switchyard design packages.
- Help ensure designs comply with IEC, IEEE, ENA, DNO/TSO requirements, and national grid connection codes.
- Contribute to engineering solutions that support safety, efficiency, and sustainability objectives.
Solar & Battery Systems Support
- Assist with the design and integration of solar PV arrays, inverters, transformers, RMUs, and BESS systems into grid networks.
- Support PV yield, loss, and equipment selection studies using tools such as PVsyst, ETAP, or similar software.
- Assist in the development of protection and grounding systems, with guidance from senior engineers, to support safe operation and electrical safety compliance.
- Support the preparation of technical information related to renewable connection strategies, grid code compliance, and interconnection requirements.
- Participate in coordination meetings and work collaboratively with civil, structural, and other multidisciplinary teams.
- Support digital workflows using CDE platforms (BIM 360, ACC, Aconex) and model-based collaboration tools for efficient project delivery.
Project Support & Coordination
- Support electrical engineering activities on renewable energy projects under the supervision of senior engineers and project managers.
- Coordinate with internal teams, developers, EPC contractors, utilities, and other stakeholders as required during project development and execution.
- Assist with budgeting input, scheduling updates, risk tracking, and management of design deliverables.
- Prepare technical documentation, calculations, and feasibility inputs, and support client design reviews where needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
- 0–3 years of experience in electrical design for renewable energy, power systems, or utility/infrastructure projects.
- Basic understanding of solar PV systems, MV distribution, substations, and grid connection principles.
- Awareness of utility standards, protection concepts, grounding, and electrical safety requirements.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, electrical design tools, and BIM workflows.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred:
- Exposure to PVsyst, ETAP, Revit, or similar analysis/design tools.
- Internship, placement, or site experience in solar, BESS, or electrical infrastructure projects.
- Interest in energy storage systems, hybrid renewable systems, and grid interconnections.
- Familiarity with international renewable standards such as IEC, ENA, G99/G100, and grid connection processes.
- Willingness to learn from senior engineers and develop technical excellence in renewable energy engineering.
