Job Description
AECOM is seeking a BIM Specialist for a full-time position based in our Montréal office. Working under general supervision, the BIM Specialist will provide multidisciplinary digital design support using Building Information Modeling (BIM) platforms, including Revit, Civil 3D, and MicroStation. The successful candidate will provide technical support, develop digital models, and contribute to the management of a Common Data Environment (CDE) to support project execution and team collaboration. The role will also involve the production of detailed design documentation and digital models, with a strong focus on accuracy, constructability, and interdisciplinary coordination.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on support for Building Information Modeling (BIM) production and model development for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with standards, technical requirements, and project schedules.
- Support the team in preparing detailed models in accordance with established procedures, technical specifications, and client requirements to produce both 2D and 3D deliverables.
- Translate design intent into accurate, coordinated, and constructible models that support subsequent project phases.
- Assist in the management of Common Data Environments (CDEs), such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, including folder structure setup, permissions management, file maintenance, and adherence to data governance processes.
- Coordinate, as required, software licensing management and software procurement activities related to project delivery, in collaboration with the appropriate internal teams.
- Provide technical support and training to design teams regarding BIM tools, workflows, standards, and content libraries, including families and project templates.
- Assist in resolving BIM technology-related issues and recommend digital solutions tailored to project-specific requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support model coordination, clash detection and resolution, and the integration of various disciplines.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Architecture, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience using Building Information Modeling tools such as Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, or MicroStation.
- Proficiency in both French and English, written and spoken, as the successful candidate may be required to collaborate on projects outside Quebec and with clients in other provinces or countries.
- Strong understanding of design documentation, BIM modeling standards, and multidisciplinary coordination workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, well-structured construction documents and 3D models that meet the requirements of multidisciplinary projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with hydropower or energy sector projects is considered an asset.
- Experience with advanced design and engineering software, including CATIA, SolidWorks, Flow-3D, and MicroStation, in addition to commonly used BIM platforms.
- Experience working on large-scale, complex multidisciplinary projects
