Job Description
AECOM is seeking an intermediate environmental risk assessor to join our Canada Remediation team. This role supports the delivery of high‑quality human health and ecological risk assessments across remediation projects in Canada, working under the guidance of senior technical leaders and project managers.
The successful candidate will contribute strong technical expertise, support junior staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver defensible, regulator‑ready risk assessments that support site remediation and regulatory compliance.
Technical Delivery & Collaboration
Perform and support risk assessments from preliminary screening through detailed assessment stages.
Develop and refine conceptual site models, identify exposure pathways, and evaluate receptors.
Apply Canadian and provincial regulatory risk assessment guidance (human health and ecological).
Collaborate with toxicologists, ecologists, biologists, engineers, and project managers to support integrated project delivery.
Translate technical risk findings into clear, concise documentation for internal and external audiences.

Project Support
Support project managers with scope development, schedules, and budgets.
Prepare technical content for reports, figures, tables, and appendices.
Ensure work meets quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Participate in client and regulator interactions as a technical contributor.
Mentorship & Team Collaboration
Provide day to day technical guidance and informal mentoring to junior staff.
Contribute to a collaborative, technically strong team culture.
Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team.
Technical Expertise
Apply practical, fit‑for‑purpose approaches to scope and analysis.
Ecological Risk Assessment:
Support design, evaluation, and interpretation of toxicity, bioaccumulation and ecological exposure studies.
Apply media‑specific screening criteria and weight‑of‑evidence approaches.

Human Health Risk Assessment:
Evaluate exposure scenarios, dose‑response relationships, and hazard characterization.
Support incorporation of emerging contaminants into risk assessments.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
B.Sc. in Toxicology, Biological Sciences, Environmental Science, Ecology, Public Health, or related discipline; Master's is preferred
Professional designation (or eligibility) in a Canadian province.
Minimum of 4 years of relevant environmental consulting experience including experience conducting complete risk assessments as well as indoor air and soil vapour intrusion assessments.
Demonstrated experience supporting or leading components of risk assessments.
Preferred Qualifications
7-12 years of relevant environmental consulting experience including experience conducting complete risk assessments as well as indoor air and soil vapour intrusion assessments.
Experience working within multidisciplinary remediation teams.
Ability to independently complete defined risk assessment tasks with minimal oversight.
Interest in continued technical growth toward senior or discipline‑focused roles.
Strong technical writing skills for regulatory submissions and technical reports.
Working understanding of Canadian regulatory frameworks.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Valid Driver’s License.
