Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Senior Planner Leader. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a proven track record in business development, client relationship management, and leadership within the transportation planning sector. The successful candidate will be instrumental in expanding our market presence, cultivating strategic partnerships, and delivering innovative solutions that align with environmental and sustainability goals. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of transportation planning while driving growth and innovation. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute growth strategies to enhance our transportation planning business, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and government agencies to secure new projects and foster long-term partnerships.
  • Business Development: Identify emerging trends and opportunities in transportation planning and environmental sustainability, driving revenue growth through targeted initiatives.
  • Proposal Oversight: Lead the preparation of winning proposals, ensuring they align with client needs and showcase our expertise in transportation and environmental planning.
  • Team Leadership: Inspire and mentor a multidisciplinary team of planners, engineers, and environmental specialists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Project Oversight: Provide high-level oversight on complex transportation planning projects, ensuring they meet environmental, regulatory, and sustainability standards.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent the organization at industry conferences and events, positioning the company as a leader in transportation environmental planning.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as an advocate for sustainable transportation solutions, engaging with policymakers, community leaders, and industry stakeholders to advance shared goals.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Ten years of experience in transportation planning, with a focus on business development or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership.
  • Proven experience and success in leadership roles, with a track record of managing complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experienced in communication and interpersonal skills by articulating complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Experienced in the development of professional networking abilities and established connections within the industry.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Transportation Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Established industry network and a strong track record of winning work or growing a planning practice.
  • Prior experience leading or growing a transportation planning or environmental planning practice.
  • Professional certification such as AICP, PE, or similar.
