Job Description

AECOM's Enterprise Capabilities is seeking for an experienced Associate Director to join our Mechanical Engineering team in Bogota, Colombia. The primary function is to direct the engineering team, ensure technical excellence under international standards, and lead multidisciplinary integration for high-complexity projects (especially HVAC).

The responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Technical Design Direction: Oversee the development of HVAC and other Mechanical systems, ensuring future flexibility, redundancy, concurrent maintainability and energy efficiency
  • Innovation & Digital Transformation: Lead the adoption of emerging technologies, such as advanced Digital Twins, AI-driven CFD, and high-LOD BIM integration.
  • Talent Development: Mentor senior engineers and specialty leads, establishing clear career paths and succession planning within the organization
  • System Selection Decision-Making: Validate the selection of critical technologies such as Fan Wall units, CRAHs, chilled water systems, and containment solutions.
  • Calculation and Regulation Oversight: Ensure the accuracy of thermal load calculations (HAP, CYPE, etc.) and strict compliance with ASHRAE, SMACNA, and local/international regulations.
  • Deliverable Management: Approve specifications, system architecture drawings, P&IDs, and final technical reports before issuance.
  • BIM/VDC Leadership: Supervise Revit modeling, manage the Quality Review (QR) of drawings, and lead interdisciplinary clash coordination if needed.
  • Oversee the department's financial performance, including resource allocation, software licensing budgets, and operational expenditures
  • Design of chilled water systems, variable refrigerant, centralized systems, and precision systems.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering +8 years of experience.
  • Advanced experience in Revit, AutoCAD, and thermal calculation software.
  • Knowledge of local and international regulations (American and European).
  • Advanced level of English, capable of leading technical meetings and international negotiations.
  • Knowledge of PMI or SCRUM methodologies to manage engineering schedules and resource allocation
  • Must be resourceful, highly organized, professional with attention to detail and people.
  • Knowledge of local and international regulations (American and European).
  • Proven ability to lead diverse, remote, and multicultural teams

Preferred Requirements

  • MBA or Master’s in Engineering Management is highly preferred
  • +10 years of experience
  • At least 5-7 years in a senior management role overseeing large-scale projects in diverse sectors (Data Centers, Healthcare, Industrial
  • Bilingual proficiency in English (C2) for executive-level reporting and global stakeholder management.
  • Experience using PowerBI or similar tools to track engineering productivity, project variances, and KPI fulfillment.
