Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Flood Modeller to support catchment-scale flood modelling, stormwater analysis, and water infrastructure projects across Auckland and New Zealand. You will apply hydraulic and hydrological modelling expertise to inform flood assessments, drainage design, and resilient infrastructure outcomes.

You will take ownership of modelling tasks, deliver high-quality technical outputs, and collaborate closely with civil engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams. This role also includes mentoring junior staff and contributing to project delivery and client engagement.

  • Lead and deliver catchment-scale flood modelling and stormwater analysis tasks
  • Undertake rainfall, flood level, and hydraulic analysis to support infrastructure design
  • Provide model outputs to inform floor levels, site development, and drainage design
  • Apply and interpret results across stormwater systems including pipes, channels, and drainage networks
  • Collaborate with design teams to assess impacts of engineering changes on flood behavior
  • Use tools such as InfoWorks ICM, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, and ArcGIS
  • Prepare technical reports, modelling outputs, and design inputs
  • Support project delivery, including smaller work packages where required
  • Contribute to client communication, meetings, and stakeholder engagement
  • Assist in bids, proposals, and business development activities
  • Mentor and support junior team members

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering (or similar)
  • 5+ years’ experience in flood modelling or stormwater engineering
  • Strong experience with InfoWorks ICM, TUFLOW, and/or HEC-RAS
  • Understanding of catchment modelling and stormwater systems
  • Working toward CPEng (or equivalent) preferred
  • Knowledge of NZ stormwater and flood management standards
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
