Job Description

Provide technical delivery and project support in this Senior Civil Engineer role, contributing to the design and delivery of three waters infrastructure projects across Auckland and New Zealand. You will apply your civil engineering expertise across design, modelling, project delivery, and construction support while working closely with project managers, multidisciplinary teams, and clients.

Based in Auckland, this role offers the opportunity to work across water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects while developing your technical capability, client relationships, and project delivery experience. You will play an important role in delivering high-quality engineering outcomes, supporting business growth, and strengthening AECOM’s Water presence across New Zealand.

You’ll work on complex three waters projects including reticulation networks, pump stations, storage facilities, and associated balance of plant infrastructure, contributing to projects that create lasting impact for local communities.

  • Lead and deliver designs, models, calculations, and documentation for water, wastewater, and stormwater projects, ensuring quality, safety, and timely delivery.
  • Apply New Zealand standards, codes, and council requirements across three waters design, drawings, reports, and technical notes.
  • Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, supporting trusted partnerships with local government and regional council clients.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across AECOM to deliver coordinated, high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Support project verification, technical reviews, and delivery timelines while continuing to strengthen your technical expertise.
  • Work with national and global technical teams to apply leading water solutions locally and support the growth of AECOM’s three waters portfolio.
  • Prepare technical reports and provide design inputs to other disciplines
  • Support project delivery, including smaller work packages where required
  • Contribute to client communication, meetings, and stakeholder engagement
  • Assist in bids, proposals, and business development activities
  • Mentor and support junior team members

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil, Environmental, or Water Engineering or similar
  • 5+ years’ experience delivering three waters infrastructure projects
  • Experience in network design, pump stations, storage, and balance-of-plant infrastructure
  • Ideally holding, or working towards, Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or equivalent
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills across complex water infrastructure projects
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams locally and globally
  • Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of New Zealand water standards, codes, and council requirements
  • Commercial awareness within a consulting project delivery environment
