Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Project Engineer to support geotechnical, civil infrastructure and mine tailings and mine facilities projects as part of the Mining group in Denver, CO. The candidate will need to be a skilled and motivated individual that possesses a strong technical background, broad knowledge of engineering principles, and proven experience in coordinating small to mid-size multi-disciplinary design projects. This role requires a professional who can independently oversee and coordinate all technical aspects of projects while ensuring compliance with quality, performance, safety, and code requirements. The Project Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet client expectations and project objectives while working as an integral part of the team that is expected to provide the following responsibilities:

Job Summary/ Responsibilities:

  • Manages portfolio of clients with multiple projects, typically involving RTF (Risk Triggering Factors).
  • Oversee and coordinate all technical aspects of more complex clients and projects and serve as day-to-day project lead, driving projects through all phases of design.
  • Works with Project Managers in recognizing risk and uncertainty with plans to mitigate and eliminate such.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers on project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager to prepare and maintain project documentation including proposals, scopes of work, design packages, change orders, and progress reports.
  • Directs staff to operate and minimize exposures.
  • Supervises and directs technical team members within various projects at various stages to ensure project deliverables align with budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Independently perform assignments with clear objectives and general supervision.
  • The successful candidate will be collaborating with colleagues spread among multiple satellite office locations.
  • Strong Microsoft skills in Windows, Office 365, and SharePoint.
  • May be responsible for Project teams that include 4 or more members often representing multiple business lines, working in remote locations, and including subcontractor(s)
  • Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering project, focusing on the unique or controversial problems
  • Develop and evaluate project plans
  • Coordinate engineering activities for capital and maintenance projects related to mining facilities and pipelines.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience
  • Certified Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years or more of relevant industry experience
  • PE in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, or the ability to acquire a PE in any of these States within 6 months.
  • On-site field experience in commissioning and start-ups for pump stations.
  • Demonstrated progressive experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams in pipelines and multidisciplinary heavy industrial facilities coordination and management around pumping and piping design, 3D models to produce issued for construction drawings and coordinating those designed into and through construction.
  • Demonstrated progressive project experience including task leadership on design-bid-build projects.
  • Demonstrated progressive experience as a technical resource to serve as technical reviewer and advisor for mechanical pumping and piping systems with strong written and oral communication and people management skills.
