Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to support our growing portfolio of Design & Build (D&B) projects within the Transportation sector (Railway, Aviation, Marine, and Civil & Structural).
This role will bridge the gap between consultant-led design and contractor execution, ensuring that design outputs are practical, buildable, and aligned with contractor methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage multi-disciplinary design teams across transportation projects
• Drive design coordination in Design & Build environments
• Interface closely with contractors to ensure constructability and efficient delivery
• Drive construction innovation of the infrastructure design works and to improve constructability aspects of the design
• Provide guidance to internal teams on contractor expectations (drawings, detailing standards, submission formats, buildability considerations)
• Support tender stage design input for D&B pursuits
• Ensure timely production of high-quality, practical, and efficient design outputs
• Mentor and train team members on D&B mindset and contractor collaboration
Qualifications
Requirements
• Chartered Engineer (MHKIE / MICE or equivalent)
• Strong experience in Transportation infrastructure (Railway / Aviation / Marine / C&S)
• Proven experience in Design & Build project delivery
• Deep understanding of contractor workflows and construction methodologies
• Track record of delivering fast, efficient, and buildable design solutions
• Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills
• Familiarity with Singapore infrastructure market and regulatory environment
Key Competencies
• Has worked closely with contractors (either from consultant side with strong site exposure, or ex-contractor design background)
• Understands what makes a design practical and executable
• Knows which design approaches are “build-friendly” rather than theoretical
• Can elevate the team’s D&B capability
