Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Maritime Senior Structural Engineer to fulfill a critical role within our East Region Marine group based in New York City, NY. This position demands a high level of expertise and commitment to excellence in maritime engineering.
The core responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Execute complex planning and design activities for multi-discipline maritime infrastructure projects, including container and cruise terminals, bulk facilities, oil/gas installations, marinas, ports and harbors, offshore wind farms, coastal resiliency and development schemes.
Independently develop and comprehensively analyze calculations, drawings, specifications, reports and related documents. Oversee and critically evaluate technical deliverables prepared by junior structural engineers to ensure the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
Provide authoritative oversight of junior structural engineers' work. Conduct thorough quality control reviews of design calculations, drawings and interface relationships to maintain the integrity of the multi-discipline project deliverables.
Contribute significant technical expertise to the development of project scopes and design fee estimates in response to RFPs, ensuring comprehensive and competitive proposals.
Assume a leadership role in coordinating the marine team with other in-house and subconsultant engineering disciplines. Conduct rigorous interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables to ensure cohesion and excellence across all aspects of the project.
Collaborate closely with project managers to ensure both technical excellence and business objectives are met, contributing to the overall success and reputation of the NY Metro Ports & Marine team.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field plus eight (8) plus years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineering licensure in Civil/Structural Engineering
Master of Science (with Structural Engineering concentration)
Ten (10) plus years experience as a Structural Engineer with a focus in ports, marine and waterfront projects
Experience with computer analysis and design software such as SAP 2000, RISA 3D, STAAD.Pro, SAFE
Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
Excellent oral and written communication skills
