Job Description
AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Leader to join our team. You will work directly with our data center client’s team, and will be backed by our team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering safety, compliance, permitting, remediation, and ESG consulting services to our key data center client.
The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in the environmental field and health and safety. This position requires managing and mitigating EHS-related risks at data center construction sites. Risks are identified and managed across the life-cycle of data center development, including site due diligence, environmental permitting coordination, A&E design coordination, construction safety, construction environmental compliance, commissioning safety, and handoff to operations. This role requires travel at a frequency of at least twice per month. This position requires interacting with various stakeholders to accomplish successful development of data center campuses by eliminating EHS-related delays. Ideal candidates will have excellent written and spoken communication skills, organizational and time management skills, successful experience working on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn new skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management; and work both independently and as a part of a project team.
The Responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:
- Manage a portfolio of data center construction sites.
- Manage a team of on-site construction safety client representatives.
- Independently determine and develop approaches to solutions.
- Under limited supervision, responsible for moderately complex technical work in a wide range of EHS disciplines to achieve compliance with EHS standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.
- Interpret site due diligence reports (Phase I/II ESAs, wetland delineations, air permitting strategy, environmental justice evaluations, T&E habitat assessments, cultural heritage, etc.).
- Develop and maintain EHS risk registers and manage implementation of mitigation measures.
- Be accountable to various stakeholders, including escalating issues or potential issues quickly.
- Prepare and implement work plans, cost estimates, data compilation/analysis, and report preparation (text, tables, figures, and calculations).
- Develop and conduct client environmental, health and safety training.
- Review permits and plans to facilitate compliance with environmental regulations.
- Provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
- Serve as an interface with the client, owners, regulatory personnel, and/or GCs on complex projects.
- Proactively enforce a culture of producing high-quality work and the importance of Health & Safety within the team.
- Proactively identify opportunities to increase project efficiencies, improve technical methodologies and add value to client service offerings
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in an EHS-related field +8 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education
- Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.
- EHS and Compliance experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Regional EHS management experience.
- Construction safety experience.
- Project management experience.
- Environmental remediation experience.
- Experience with regulator and stakeholder negotiations.
- High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment.
- Organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work.
- Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written.
- HAZWOPER 40-hour certification.
- CIH, CPEA, CSP, or similar certification
