Job Description
AECOM is seeking a talented Engineering Intern to join our team here at the Victoria, BC office.
This will be a temporary full-time 4 month term starting in May 2026.
Job responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Help perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out municipal engineering tasks.
- Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
- Perform with Company Professional Practice Management Plan and assigned role and responsibilities; including but not limited to documented calculations and design comment log check and filing within the organizational filing system.
- Understand and follow Company policies including but not limited to the support inclusive workplace and occupational safety
- Possess and demonstrate critical thinking, organizational skills and proficient communication including written and verbal
- Exercise judgement limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
- Assist with preparing engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
- Assist with preparing design drawings, plans, sections, details, and profiles/sections within the Autodesk Civil 3D
- Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
- Water distribution system hydraulic modeling, analysis, and design
- Sewer collection system evaluation and design
- Stormwater modeling, analysis, and design
- Contract administration support and site inspection during the construction of municipal infrastructure
- Actively engage in professional development and industry events
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Must currently be completing an undergraduate degree in Civil engineering
- Must have complete two years of study in the relevant program
- Must have a valid driving licence
Preferred Requirements:
- Site Inspection experience in previous jobs, co-op terms
- Working with MMCD in a supporting Contract Administrator capacity (change orders, force account tracking, red-line markups, design change log)
- Ability to communicate design conflicts effectively and clearly, and work with Engineer of Record, Contractor to coordinate/liaise information for effective design change/field review aspects
- Ability to summarize civil underground, municipal construction progress in an organized and timely manner
