Job Description

AECOM Burnaby is hiring a Senior Delivery Advisor for their Transit & Rail group.

The Senior Delivery Advisor serves as a trusted partner to public and private sector transit and rail clients, helping shape, integrate, and deliver simple to complex programs from early strategy through operational readiness. This role focuses on aligning technical solutions with real‑world operating needs, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and proactively guiding teams toward successful outcomes across safety, quality, schedule, and budget.

 

To be successful in this customer facing role, you will have the following characteristics:

  • Demonstrated ability to guide major transit and rail programs through planning, design, delivery, and operational transition.

  • Proven track record delivering safety, quality, budget, and schedule outcomes across multiple clients and project types.

  • Deep understanding of the regional transit & rail market, including agencies, operators, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

  • Recognized internally and externally as a trusted rail advisor with strong industry credibility.

  • Skilled at navigating complex, high‑pressure environments with composure, clarity, and sound judgment.

  • Ability to translate long‑term strategic objectives into actionable steps that support sustainable growth.

  • Operates independently, anticipates needs, and brings forward solutions without requiring close oversight.

 

Daily tasks may include:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, subcontractors, and industry stakeholders to anticipate needs and identify opportunities.

  • Shape early‑stage pursuits and delivery strategies to ensure alignment with operational realities, constraints, and long‑term system performance.

  • Serve as a senior interface between project teams and clients, stepping in to resolve challenges and maintain alignment.

  • Identify strategic opportunities, emerging risks, and priority actions across programs and portfolios.

  • Collaborate with Rail & Transit leadership to set objectives, allocate resources, and drive execution.

  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering cross‑disciplinary collaboration and strengthening delivery culture.

  • Support contractual negotiations, commercial strategy, and dispute resolution.

  • Lead risk and opportunity assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively audit delivery performance.

  • Partner with marketing and business development to shape messaging, proposals, and industry engagement.

  • Champion digital innovation, including AI‑enabled workflows and automation of repetitive tasks, to improve delivery efficiency.


 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree + 8 years of transit & rail experience, or;

  • Technical Diploma + 10 years of transit & rail experience, or;

  • Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience with clients such as CN, CPKC, BNSF, SRY, BC Rail, Translink, Port of Vancouver, Prince Rupert Port Authority, and similar.

  • Extensive local network and strong industry reputation;

  • Heavy civil engineering background
