Job Description
AECOM Tishman is seeking a Construction Intern to be based in Jamica, NY.
This position is expected to begin in Summer 2026.
This internship opportunity is designed to provide practical experience and professional development in the construction industry. The program aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application, preparing interns for future careers in construction management. This position will be based in Jamaica, NY.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in a comprehensive internship program that transitions classroom learning to practical, on-site construction experience. This program is structured to develop essential skills and competencies required for success in the construction industry.
- Engage in various aspects of construction management, gaining exposure to different roles and responsibilities within the field. This multifaceted approach will provide a thorough understanding of construction processes, methodologies, and best practices.
- Assist in day-to-day operations on construction sites, including but not limited to project coordination, document management, and site inspections.
- Collaborate with experienced professionals, learning from their expertise and gaining insights into industry standards and practices.
- Contribute to project-related tasks, applying theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios and developing problem-solving skills.

About AECOM Tishman
Since 1898, AECOM Tishman has managed the construction of some of the world’s most iconic buildings. We employ a diversified preconstruction and construction management staff of structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers; architects; technology specialists; scheduling and cost control personnel; and construction estimators and accountants. We provide expert consultation and guidance in all phases of a building project, from master-planning, preconstruction options evaluation and decision-making, to design review, estimating, and scheduling, through procurement, construction and occupancy. AECOM Tishman’s staff manages all consultants and contractors on a project, representing client interests throughout the project cycle. In total, AECOM Tishman has built more than 900 million square feet – including the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, One World Trade Center in New York.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar discipline, and must have completed at least 1 year of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working for a large general contractor.
- Previous relevant internship experience.
- Exposure to other construction-based computer programs.
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, and Outlook), as well as exposure to other construction-based computer programs.

- In order to receive a security badge at the client worksite for which you are being hired to perform services, you will be required to pass the client's security screening process to include SWAC (Secure Worker Access Consortium) and/or SIDA (Identification Display Area) and fingerprinting, which will be done after you have commenced employment and is a condition of your continued employment.
