Job Description
AECOM has excellent career opportunities for a creative and highly talented Project Management Manager with solid experience in mass transit projects. Based in Panama, the Project Management Manager will lead and oversee transportation and infrastructure initiatives, ensuring the effective management of technical and administrative resources to successfully achieve project goals and objectives. This position will report directly to the Country Manager for Panama.
While railway and metro project experience is preferred, professional background in airport or port projects will also be recognized and valued, given their importance to Panama’s logistics and transportation network.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and manage transportation projects, with a focus on railway, metro, airport, and port infrastructure, ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
- Oversee multidisciplinary teams, promoting a culture of collaboration across technical and management groups.
- Coordinate contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors; prepare and review professional services agreements and addenda.
- Monitor project performance, including financial status, reporting results to country and regional management.
- Supervise technical staff, project managers, and design professionals, ensuring efficient workload distribution and high-quality deliverables.
- Review project designs and technical documentation to ensure compliance with international best practices and local regulations.
- Anticipate and mitigate risks, developing proactive solutions to ensure project continuity and client satisfaction.
- Serve as primary liaison with clients, partners, and regulatory entities, representing AECOM in front of key stakeholders.
- Support proposal development, resource planning, and risk management for new and ongoing transportation opportunities.
- Contribute to the financial management of projects, including budget oversight, cash flow, revenue recognition, and reporting.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering/architecture (or related field) +8 years of experience.
- Experience railway, metro, airport, or port project management.
- Strong communication skills in both Spanish and English (oral and written).
- Proven ability to develop proposals, integrate technical inputs, and manage budgets for complex infrastructure projects.
Additional Information
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of experience, with at least 5 years in senior positions managing railway or metro projects.
- PMI Certification or equivalent project management credential.
- Demonstrated experience in projects with regional logistics impact (rail, airport, or port).
