As part of our wider collaboration and growth initiatives, we are currently seeking to appoint an individual in the role of Infrastructure Design and Build Lead. Reporting directly to the Head of Infrastructure and working closely with the Highways Regional Directors and Infrastructure Team Leads, the role will focus driving growth and delivering innovative design and build projects. You will also be a key member of the Infrastructure Leadership Team in the UK and Ireland.

AECOM has identified significant opportunities for growth in the design and build market and we are positioning ourselves for these.  Your role will involve fostering collaboration within our design and build teams, setting each of our projects up for success and overseeing delivery for our contractor clients.

You will be required to integrate capability from across AECOM to deliver design and build projects on time and on budget.  

About You

Drawing on your considerable design and build experience across the infrastructure industry you will have the confidence and drive to position AECOM for the pipeline of detailed design based opportunities.  Your considerable experience of working with contractors and relationships therein will be key to this engagement and setting AECOM up for successful approach to, and delivery of these projects.  As a strong collaborator you work well with teams at different levels, drawing on your leadership, detailed design and construction contract experience. You will be able to manage multiple stakeholder inputs with competing priorities whilst maintaining relationships and progress. 

Key Responsibilities

The Infrastructure Design and Build Lead will be accountable for overseeing the portfolio of design and build work specifically they will:

  • Develop the design and build pipeline
  • Cultivate relationships with our contractor partners.
  • Support the AECOM UK&I contractor Client Account Managers.
  • Leverage existing framework appointments, secure reappointments, and win new pursuits
  • Oversee our design and build expertise; identifying any resourcing gaps and managing same
  • Lead the development and execution of design and build projects
  • Serve as Project Director to oversee assigned projects, supporting design and build project delivery teams.
  • Ensure compliance with AECOM procedural and quality management systems.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams from the technical skills and capabilities to successfully deliver design and build projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver successful multi-disciplinary bids.
  • Apply AECOM governance across all design and build project pursuits

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Experience in leading detailed design delivery and construction contract management in a design and build environment
  • Considerable experience of working with construction and a detailed knowledge of contractors in the transport infrastructure industry
  • Strong stakeholder and contract partner relationships and management skills to harness those relationships
  • Demonstrated expertise in the area of managing transportation project teams
  • A proven track record in developing and growing contractor relationships, client account management, and delivering design and build project pursuits
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Desirable - Chartered Membership of a recognised professional body in engineering or construction (or other appropriate) discipline / Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate discipline.
