Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Transit Engineer to be based in Madison, Wisconsin to join our growing transit engineering practice.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be a designer and/or technical task leader on preliminary design studies and final design of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects.
  • Coordinate, cooperate, and work collaboratively with other team members.
  • Support the business development of the AECOM US West Region Transit/Rail Engineering Group.
  • Prepare engineering calculations and develop drawings and visual aids for BRT infrastructure.
  • Assists with the engineering design of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects—including the design of BRT transit guideways, BRT stations, and pedestrian facilities.
  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings.
  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Perform work following an agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Contributes to the development of reports and documentation needed for the pursuit of federal grants.

 

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    •  Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

     

     PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Engineer-in-Training certification (or ability to obtain).
    • Relevant co-op/internship experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education 
    • Experience in engineering design projects for WisDOT, the City of Madison, urban municipalities, and/or transit agencies.
    • Experience designing transit (ideally BRT infrastructure) and/or transportation infrastructure.
    • Experience working with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation/OpenRoads.
    • Experience with business development and client relations.
    • Experience with oversight of junior staff.
    • Able to work out of our Middleton, Wisconsin office.
