Job Description

AECOM has an opening for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Buildings and Places team in Canberra office.

The role is ideal for a values driven experienced engineer with a strong technical background with an interest in developing detailed design solutions and is responsible for the delivery of a range of exciting electrical engineering projects which cover a diverse range of the construction sector including Data Centres, Defence, Commercial, Education and Health.

What will a day in this role look like:

  • Work effectively within a team of multi-disciplinary engineers on a range of projects, using your technical expertise to drive quality through review of design calculations, specifications and drawings.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders across our expansive multi-disciplinary engineering team to provide technical advice on some community and place making defining projects.
  • Use your experience on building services projects as an Electrical designer, to prepare technical design that is high-quality and cost-effective project delivery on health, defence, government, transport and other building projects across ANZ
  • Lead Electrical design and project delivery for our major client projects, including the technical review of projects and management of small project teams, while also providing guidance and mentoring to junior engineers within the business when preparing technical design documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree.
  • Ideally, 5-10+ years’ experience working for a Building Services consultancy.
  • A proven record in technical design and project delivery whilst maintaining and enhancing client relationships.
  • Hold necessary qualifications to obtain registration in the ACT and other jurisdictions (e.g. CPEng and/or NER credentials).
  • Exposure to running multiple technical projects simultaneously with demonstrable design experience across a variety of market sectors.
  • Experience in leading small and large teams at the project level, managing project teams, deliverables, budgets and schedule.
  • Excellent communication and people skills with the passion and ability to mentor and train younger Engineers within the business.
  • Drive innovation and efficiency improvements within the team.
  • Experience working in electrical services design including lighting, general and specialist power, earthing/lightning protection and power distribution and reticulation.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal, demonstrating leadership qualities and aspirations to grow with AECOM.
  • Proficiency in industry standard software including AutoCAD, PowerCAD, Revit, MS Office, AGI32.
