Internship Opportunity: Mechanical Engineering Intern – Al Ain

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern in our Utilities team, you’ll be part of exciting infrastructure and land development projects in the Al Ain Region. You’ll contribute to essential projects, from road network enhancements to critical security infrastructure, working closely with experienced engineers and gaining hands-on experience in the field.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Design Support: Develop designs, calculations, sketches, and project models under the mentorship of experienced engineers, diving into real-world project needs.
  • Technical Assistance: Apply engineering knowledge to design tasks, ensuring quality results within project timelines.
  • Project Collaboration: Engage in coordination meetings and work alongside cross-disciplinary engineers to create cohesive designs.
  • Software Application: Use engineering software to address and solve technical challenges.
  • Quality Assurance: Review model accuracy with BIM/CAD teams, supporting high standards in project outcomes.
  • Professional Growth: Seek learning opportunities, take initiative, and collaborate with team members to enhance project efficiency.
  • Problem Solving: Contribute innovative ideas and theoretical knowledge to address unique engineering challenges.

Qualifications

  • Education: Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university, with an interest or exposure to one or more of the following subjects:
    • Fluid Mechanics
    • Hydraulics
    • Water Supply and Sewerage
    • Hydrology
    • Other relevant subjects preferred: AD QCC standard Civil, AACM Guidelines, or Water GEMS hydraulic modeling software by BENTLEY.
  • Graduation Date: Must be a potential 2025 or 2026 graduate (or a 2024 graduate looking for short-term work placement for experience).
  • GPA: Applicants should have a minimum GPA of 2.8 (or equivalent) to be considered.
  • Start Date: Dec 2024 / Jan 2025
  • Duration: 1-3 months, depending on individual preferences and project requirements.
  • Eligibility: As part of AECOM’s commitment to Emiratisation and in compliance with UAE labor law, only UAE Nationals with a family book will be considered for this role.
