Job Description

AECOM Hunt has a distinct opportunity for a seasoned Electrical Preconstruction Manager in our Phoenix, AZ offices.  

  • Manages the day-to-day pre-construction operations, including but not limited to, communicating, proposing and preparing preliminary budget estimates, design cost estimates, design-development cost estimates, and guaranteed maximum price (GMP) proposals, inclusive of value engineering.
  • Analyze and acquire additional project information such as preliminary schedules, procurement schedule and cost analysis, GMP, construction documents, blueprints, bid packages from subcontractors and contractors, etc.
  • Gathers information and data to demonstrate best practices and value engineering for cost savings opportunities to senior leaders of the Pre-Construction team to relay to clients in an effort to meet budget constraints.
  • Manages pre-construction, estimating, scheduling and procurement team to research and compile budget estimates and cost from the pre-concept design stage to the construction document stage.
  • Working within the scope of the project’s pre-construction estimates and financial analysis, researches and considers the interest of all parties, to supervise team and review, analyze, and estimate cost of drawings, BIM and specifications of projects, propose means and methods of construction, recommend cost savings or potential problems on the project.
  • Prepares pre-construction budget and having available most recent proposals, costs, estimates and projections. Prepares and demonstrative viability of budgets and relays to pre-con team (clients, architects, and Project Management Executives, etc.). 
  • Articulates and presents correct strategy and pricing for each component of the construction cost in order to provide our clients with the most competitive and accurate pricing available.
  • Oversees schedule and workload priorities with staff and organize estimating schedule.
  • Manages team and staff workload, distribute drawings specifications, bulletins and all pertinent information to all estimating staff so they can complete their assigned task.
  • Reviews bids to sub-contractors, review scopes of work and analyze costs as bids are received. Proficiency and usage of estimating program and system to ensure integrity of pre-construction information at all times.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirement:

    • BA/BS and 8 years of relevant electrical estimating/preconstruction experience or AA/AS and 10 years of relevant experience or HS/GED and 12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

    Preferred Requirements:

    • Prior experience in construction estimating.
    • Strong Excel skills.
    • Prior extensive experience with building and construction trades in mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
    • Prior experience as subcontractor/trades person in mechanical, electrical and plumbing construction.
    • Strong working knowledge of various MEP related systems, such as HVAC, Mechanical, Electrical, etc. 
    • Ability to read and interpret drawings.
    • Experience estimating subcontracted labor, pricing construction units, ensuring ability to meet bid specifications. 

    Additional Information

    • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization now or in the future.
    • This position requires on-site work in Phoenix, AZ and may allow for 1 remote day per week.
