We are searching for a Rail Project Manager to join us here at AECOM in our Leeds office working within a hybrid model.
As Our Project Manager you will work on ongoing Bids and Projects and major pursuits/
Our Eastern Rail Engineering Management Team is based in our AECOM Leeds offices and has an established record for successfully delivering Rail Projects, most notably the Northumberland line, which is the biggest third-line rail project in the UK, creating new line and six new stations aim to deliver economic benefits between £360m to £470m! The project will help tackle congestion and improve air quality by shifting journeys from road to rail.
The team meets regularly to share best practice and peer learning is encouraged to improve our personal and team performance.
Each team member has a development plan to provide a clear pathway to personal development and career progression. The team provides technical leadership of projects throughout the infrastructure lifecycle from feasibility, preliminary and detailed stage designs.
The projects we deliver range from stations to train maintenance and servicing depots and power supply upgrades. We also provide support for other parts of AECOM’s business on major multidisciplinary projects.

Here’s what you’ll do:
- Collaborate: Client facing role with ownership and responsibility for the successful delivery of projects. Managing stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests to achieve desired project outcomes. Building strong relationships with clients and members of the cross-functional team
- Deliver: Administering the contract to deliver projects to cost and programme, ensuring the successful commercial performance of your projects
- Oversee: Responsible for the change control process by documenting early warnings, preparing variations and change requests, then negotiating and agreeing change with the client
- Provide Expertise: Preparing and maintaining design programmes, identifying key risks, dependencies and resources
- Identifying and monitoring of project risks and opportunities, assessing and implementing mitigation measures as required
- Ensure Quality: Quality management processes for project activities and output
- Lead: Managing multidisciplinary teams from across the business and subcontractor and supply chain performance
- Champion: Undertaking the role of Bid Manager for major design tenders and work winning pursuits
Qualifications

Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Chartered Engineer and/or Project Manager (or working towards accreditation)
- Relevant project management experience, preferably in the rail sector
- Experience working with Network Rail, TfL, HS2 and other local authorities, and their relevant standards and assurance processes
- Leading and coordination of multidisciplinary rail design projects
- Understanding and awareness of NEC suite of contracts, particularly the Professional Services Contract (PSC) and Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC)
