AECOM Water is actively seeking an Electrical Technician to join our team in Akron, OH.
Responsibilities:
- Works under superintendent, able to fill role of small team lead. Will train under superintendent.
- Independently performs complex technical work utilizing instructions, drawings, schematics, device documentation, computer software, electronic meters, network analyzers, and other tools. Responsible for completion of each work order assigned, or project task. Will be involved in training and advising other technical personnel. Will perform data entry, record keeping, as-built drawings, utilizing computer software. Will perform project and business level functions.
- Demonstrate Math skills including arithmetic, algebra, trig, and calculation used in signal conditioning, scaling, device programming
- Willingness to be trained and directed by I&C supervisor and engineer in I&C technology, practice, installation, troubleshoot and repair
- Required to learn and advance personal knowledge and skill in the I&C field, electrical plant control systems, variable speed motor drives, Ethernet, fieldbus, video systems
- Required to advise, share, and train other team members in specialized skills, and learn new skills from others.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record. Position requires frequent operation of Company light duty truck.
- Position is a combination of full day field and partial day field/office work and located at a waste treatment plant. Position requires working in outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable environmental conditions including heat, cold, moisture, and dryness.
- Capacity to work safely with and near heavy, moving, and dangerous machinery and tools.
- Position requires ability to work with software applications, install, troubleshoot, and utilize vendor software, establish USB, Ethernet, and other types of data connections from tools, equipment, and analyzers to computers.
- Position requires frequent gripping and repetitive hand movements to perform refined tasks such as threading very small wires into 1/10" terminals, as well as mechanical work tasks with various large heavy weighted hand tools such as 2 lb. hammer, hammer drill, drill press, reciprocating saw, manual conduit bender, conduit threading tool and 2 ft pipe wrench.
- Position requires frequently removing 100-200lb manhole lids unassisted with hook tool to access and perform safety gas and sensor checks.
- Position requires frequently lifting and moving various sized and weighed equipment up to 40lbs unassisted while walking to each survey area and throughout the job site.
- Position requires occasionally wearing personal protective equipment such as body harness, gloves, eye and hearing protection, respirator and biohazard suit as needed.
- Position requires frequently working in confined spaces and the ability to detect and respond to audible alarms. (Confined space gas detector alarm.)
- Position requires frequently ducking/crawling under 3 ft high horizontal obstacles ability to ascend/descend on a ladder through a 30” manhole, scaffolding or platforms using a harness to access work locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- This is an advanced I&C technical position, requiring thorough knowledge of the Instrumentation and Control field.
- Experience working in Windows, MS Office Excel, and Word.
- Small team management experience.
- Electrical construction and NEC code and OSHA safety knowledge.
