Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking a well-experienced CEI Inspector to help support projects local to Barrow and Gwinnett Counties in North Georgia.

  • Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Works under general supervisior
  • May assist with training entry-level employees. 
  • Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties
  • Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records. 
  • Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning. 
  • Inspector – will report to the Lead Roadway and/or Lead Bridge Inspectors 
  • Will need to do air and slump tests, etc.
  • Inspect grading, drainage, base, and paving operations (enforce contract elements)
  • Coordinate with GDOT lab on required testing and sampling
  • Complete checklist including Daily Work Reports
  • Inspect Erosion Control (review, comment, and ensure correction on EC-1s)
  • Assist in bridge deck pours (ie sample testing concrete and cylinder fabrication and transport)
  • Provide daily quantities completed
  • Inspect bridge elements for compliance
  • Sample testing concrete and cylinder fabrication and transport
  • Provide assistance on dry runs; wet probe during pours for bridge decks
  • Document contractors work  including any checklists and daily work reports
  • Verify and confirm adherence to required QPL materials
  • Attend pre-activity and or pre-pour conferences; assist roadway when needed
  • Provide monitoring and inspection of the project to ensure that the work is performed and completed in conformance with the Design Build Agreement
  • Manage and track the Design-Build (DB) Team’s progress and quality of the work in accordance with Design Build Agreement
  • Keep daily inspection forms, logs, and records consistent with GDOT’s practice as delineated in the current GDOT Construction Manual, GDOT Bridge Manual, the Design-Build Construction SOP, and inspectors’ forms in the PLI
  • Inspect traffic control during lane closures and (review DB’s TC1 submittal weekly and ensure corrections made as required). Ensure compliance with the accepted Traffic Management Plan (TMP), temporary traffic control plan, MUTCD, and approved Traffic Interruption Request (TIR). Record lane closure times installed and removed
  • Provide regular updates to the PMC PM of major accident, incident, or unanticipated project conditions.
  • Shift work and overtime hours will be required as needed and approved by the GDOT.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School plus 2 years of related experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
  • Due to the nature of the projects a US Citizenship is required
