Job Description
The projects focus is the integration of all Canadian Army’s sensors feeds and data within LCSS and enabling the collection, dissemination, processing and preservation of related information.
- Provide on-site support and advice to all stakeholders and delivery teams;
- Participate in and coordinate LCSS verification, validation activities and test events relating to sensor integration;
- Participate in national and international standards working groups (WG), routine program meetings and domain specific conferences that will assist in the evolution of the Sensor Integration;
- Participate in program Large Solution Increment, HQ Domain and Program Increment events as necessary;
- Provide Eng architectural support in response to all observations;
- Develop test plans for all sensor integration capabilities;
- Developing, designing, maintaining test beds, and test procedures;
- Maintain all relevant technical documentation in regard to supported applications and equipment in order to support corporate;
- Track technical problems and solutions in using the collaborative environments to support configuration control and change management activities;
- Provide system specialist user audits and feedback;
- Responsible for scrum master duties and activities for Large Solution Domain, and HQ Domain;
- Usability and Human Computer Interaction:
- Enhance usability, which is the measure of the quality of a user’s experience when interacting with a product or system by maximizing effectiveness (achieve goals with product), efficiency (time/effort required to complete tasks) and user satisfaction;
- Work closely with software and Eng teams to develop specialized Graphical User Interface on military embedded hardware devices or software designs for complex applications;
- Document the analysis, design and test activities in accordance with development standards;
- Development and maintenance of Electrical Warfare (EW) technical publications, including Eng schematics/diagrams, parts lists, Eng changes data, test & evaluation;
- Procurement support by providing information to identify terms & conditions (packaging marking, security, quality assurance etc.), SOWs, specifications, and data item descriptions;
- Assist with the training and development when onboarding new EW support staff through informal discussion regarding the state of EW technology and their experiences supporting EW capabilities;
- Support EW Change Management process through configuration of EW Baseline and integration of new devices and technologies to EW systems and networks;
- System level architecture for communication and information systems within a distributed platform environment and a Client/Server environment;
- System level architecture for military systems; and/or Data architecture definition and implementation;
- Identifying, analyzing and resolving complex communication and information system on all associated platforms and related projects;
System integration, verification and validation, for hardware and software components (COTS and/or custom developed) in new or existing platforms and related projects.
Qualifications
- Proof of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) bachelor’s degree in network, software, computer, systems, electrical or a suitable engineering or technical field required to support Land C4ISR. (copy will be required)
- Must have demonstrated Professional Engineer License within Canada.
- Preference will be given to candidates that already hold an existing Secret level clearance with PSPC/PWGSC. (contract requirement)
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Systems Architect for Military Command and Control and Info Systems, or ISTAR systems.
- Must have 10 years’ experience in at least 1 of the following criteria:
- Analyzing, designing and/or implementing solutions in one or more of the following areas:
- Command and control communication and information systems within a distributed platform environment.
- Command and control communication and information systems within a client/server environment.
- Military ISTAR systems.
- Joint or Allied C4ISR Interoperability solutions using NATO Standardization Agreements; and
- System management solutions (tools and processes) for communication & information systems and/or ISTAR systems.
- Demonstrated work experience in system integration, verification and validation, for hardware and software components (COTS and/or custom developed) in new or existing systems, in one of the following areas:
- Command and control communication and information systems within a distributed platform environment.
- Command and control communication and information systems within a client/server environment.
- Military ISTAR systems.
- Joint or Allied C4ISR Interoperability solutions using NATO Standardization Agreements; and
- System management solutions (tools and processes) for communication & information systems and/or ISTAR systems.
- Demonstrated work experience as a systems engineer in communication and information systems (Hardware, Software and Network) or Specialty engineering (Security, Modeling, Simulation,
- ISTAR).
- Analyzing, designing and/or implementing solutions in one or more of the following areas:
- Ability to demonstrate at least 8 years of demonstrated experience within the last 10 years in the preparation of technical concept documents, system specifications, and technical proposals in the field of Information Technology / Information management or engineering (i.e. System, software, computer, communication, security, or simulation) experience.
- Ability to demonstrate at least 8 years of demonstrated experience:
- Communicating IT frameworks/strategies to management and technical staff.
- Communicating system engineering direction for projects or systems.
- Providing advice, guidance and recommendations on technical issues to support the decision making of senior management.
- Leading multidisciplinary teams in the development of IT tactical systems, frameworks, or strategies.
- Performing strategic, operational or tactical planning to projects or systems to meet corporate strategy.
