BI QA Engineer (m/f/d) - Customer & Shop Intelligence - onsite or remote within the EU

Job Description

We are looking for a BI QA Engineer (m/f/d) to be part of our BI-APP Team. Our BI-APP Team uses data from across the company and transforms it into logics & scores, used to provide the best personalized user shopping experience.

As a BI QA Engineer (m/f/d) in this team, you will ensure that our recommendation engine, product sorting logic, and search in the shop satisfy high-quality standards. You’ll work closely with Data Scientists, Analysts, and Engineers to achieve this. Further, you’ll improve and establish translating business requirements into an automated testing suite.

 

What you will do

  • Ensure the quality and reliability of the data pipelines and algorithms powering AY's recommendations, sorting, and search features
  • Design, develop, and execute test plans and test cases for various Products, focusing on data accuracy, algorithm performance, and user experience impact
  • Develop and maintain automated data quality checks, tests and monitoring systems
  • Contribute to the evolving data quality standards and best practices within the BIAPP team
  • Design, monitor and maintain QA reports, KPIs & quality trends for our internal data systems
  • Participate in post-mortem analysis of production issues to identify root causes and define QA measures to prevent future failures

 

Who you are

  • Practical experience with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Mocha, pytest) and testing APIs, ideally within data science or recommendation system contexts
  • Experience designing testing strategies for dynamic products with variable data inputs.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD processes (e.g.Gitlab CI, Github Actions), ticketing systems (e.g., Jira), and monitoring tools (e.g. Datadog) is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills with proven experience using SQL and data analysis tools
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques
  • Proficiency in at least one modern object-oriented programming language, such as Python or JavaScript
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data quality principles
  • Fascinated by the data behind personalized shopping: You're driven to understand how data powers systems like search, recommendations, and product sorting in an e-commerce environment
  • Highly structured and detail-oriented work style
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an adaptable mindset for a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, including fluent written and spoken English for clear collaboration
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Proactive and self-driven, with a passion for data quality and a strong desire for continuous learning and growth
