Job Description
I. ROLE PURPOSE
The Assistant Manager – Factory Development is responsible for leading the planning, technical coordination, and execution of factory/production facility development projects, including new setup, expansion, renovation, and upgrading works.
This role ensures all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with operational, technical, safety, and food production requirements through hands-on coordination with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
II. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Project Planning & Management
Take charge of production projects (Central Kitchen, Cheese factory, etc.) from inception to completion.
Manage and work closely with external project consultants and contractors.
Define project scope, timeline, budget, and technical requirements with internal stakeholders.
Monitor project progress to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and to expected quality standards.
Technical Coordination & Design Review
Review and coordinate layout, architectural, structural, MEP, and utility designs to ensure practicality and operational fit.
Align project requirements and technical solutions by collaborating with internal teams, consultants, and suppliers.
Ensure designs support production flow, food safety, and long-term maintenance needs.
Construction, Fit-out & Installation Execution
Manage on-site execution including construction, fit-out, MEP works, and equipment coordination.
Monitor progress, quality, safety, and compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
Resolve technical and site issues promptly to minimize delays and rework.
Equipment & Utility Integration
Coordinate production equipment installation and integration with building systems.
Plan and execute utility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, and refrigeration.
Support testing, commissioning, and trial operations before final handover.
Compliance, Handover & Documentation
Ensure projects comply with company standards and relevant local regulations.
Coordinate final inspections, defect rectification, and project handover to operations/production teams.
Maintain comprehensive project records, reports, and technical documentation.
III. SUCCESS METRICS & KPIS
Project Delivery Excellence
% of projects completed within the approved timeline and budget.
% reduction in technical defects during the handover phase.
Operational Alignment
Success rate of utility and equipment integration (Zero major failures during commissioning).
Level of compliance with food safety and production flow design requirements.
Stakeholder Satisfaction
Feedback rating from the production/operations team post-handover.
Qualifications
IV. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education Background
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, MEP Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related disciplines.
Language Proficiency
Required: English (Fluent enough to handle daily communication and discuss technical scope of work).
Minimum Experience Duration
5–8 years of relevant experience.
Relevant Experience
Required: Proven track record in project management and factory/industrial facility development.
Mandatory: Experience in food manufacturing, production facilities, central kitchens, or commissary projects.
Technical Expertise
Required: Strong experience in MEP and technical systems coordination.
