The company has facilities in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, Franklin Virginia and Duluth, Minnesota. The company operates five tissue machines and produces bath tissue, paper towels, and napkin parent rolls primarily for the Away-from-Home segment of the North American tissue market.

Job Description

The company is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineer withstrongexperience in tissue machine or paper machine environments to join our engineeringteam. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on knowledge of mechanical systems specific totissue manufacturing, combined with project experience, a solid understanding of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) practices, and a strong personal commitment to safety.

 

This position plays a critical role in ensuring reliable equipment performance, supportingcontinuous improvement initiatives, and upholding operational excellence in a high-speedtissue production setting.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Daily Operations Support: Provide mechanical engineering support for day-to-dayoperations, focusing on maximizing uptime and minimizing mechanical failures acrosstissue machine systems.

• Equipment Maintenance & Reliability: Oversee and support maintenance of keymechanical systems including headboxes, presses, Yankee cylinders, hoods, reels, and auxiliary systems.

• Project Involvement: Lead or contribute to capital and process improvement projects—such as equipment upgrades, modifications, and installations—ensuring timely executionwithin budget and safety standards.

• TPM Implementation & Support: Actively support and promote Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and empower operational ownership.

• Root Cause Analysis: Conduct structured mechanical failure analysis (RCFA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

• Safety Compliance: Champion a safety-first culture by ensuring all mechanical workmeets company and regulatory safety standards. Participate in safety audits, riskassessments, and safety related training.

• Documentation & Standards: Maintain up-to-date mechanical drawings, manuals, equipment histories, and preventive maintenance schedules.

• Vendor & Contractor Management: Coordinate with external suppliers, fabricators, and contractors for mechanical services, spare parts, and equipment procurement.

 

JOB INFORMATION

Position Title: Mechanical Engineer

Number of Job positions available: 1 for each position
Job Type: Full Time/salaried.
Starting Salary: The proposed salary range is $65,000–$70,000.

Workweek:  Standard office hours are typically from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday throughFriday; however, these hours may vary depending on the specific location and the level ofsupport or issues that arise at the mill.

PPE: Personal Protection Equipment will be provided by the company at no cost.

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

• Minimum 7 years of experience in a tissue or paper manufacturing environment, withhands-on exposure to tissue or paper machine equipment.

• Strong understanding of rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanicalpower transmission systems.

• Experience working in World Class Manufacturing (WCM) environments with a strongfocus on TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) principles and structured maintenancesystems to drive operational excellence and equipment reliability.

• Proven track record in supporting or leading engineering projects from concept throughexecution.

• High commitment to workplace safety, with knowledge of OSHA or equivalent safetystandards.

• Excellent troubleshooting, planning, and analytical skills.

• Proficient in mechanical design and drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) andCMMS systems.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Experience with Tissue Machine maintenance.

• Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).

• Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Reliability Engineering training or certification is aplus.

• Experience in leading or managing capital and reliability improvement projects,

including budgeting, scheduling, and vendor coordination.

 

Criminal Background Check? Yes, selected applicant must pass a CBC beforedeparture from the place of recruitment to the place of employment. CBC will be conducted through the recruitment company.

Drug Test?  Yes, selected applicant must pass a DT before departure from the place ofrecruitment to the place of employment. The DT will be conducted through the recruitmentcompany.

 

The company does not accept a positive result for cannabis use at any of the locations. Additionally, the company conducts a 7-panel drug test as part of their pre-employment process.

 

English Level Requirement: Good Communication level English (C1) 

Drivers License: Yes, required to be able to use a company vehicle. USA’s driving record.

Once visa or change of employer is approved, the first-time flight travel (economy class) to the business location will be provided by the company.

Transportation: A company vehicle will also be provided during this initial period of 3 months. The company will provide a car and fuel allowance for three months.

 

HOUSING

 

Housing for the first three months will be provided to help new hires settle in. The housing includes individual rooms in an apartment with utilities, Wi-Fi, and coin-operated laundry.
