Job Description
Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager, Labour and Delivery and Postpartum, the Assistant Clinical Services Manager collaborates with the program medical director and Chief of Obstetrics and Gynaecology to further the development of the Women's and Children's programs across the continuum of care.
The Assistant Clinical Services Manager will support day-to-day operations; provide leadership to an inter-professional team in order to enable application of best practices; and effectively communicate and lead processes in delivering safe, competent and ethically-based patient inspired and cost effective services, using an evidence-informed approach and involving appropriate stakeholders. In addition, this role contributes to the operational effectiveness of acute care services for Women's and Children's inpatient services in supporting the Clinical Services Manager with planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating innovative models of care, working in the development of the Women's and Children's programs across the continuum of care, and coordinating care with community partners.
The successful candidate will ensure the program goals and objectives are met and are aligned with the corporate strategic plan. The position provides day-to-day leadership in the clinical areas and is the delegate for the Clinical Services Manager. Respectful interactions and collaboration with staff, system partners, patients and families are core expectations of this role.
Accountabilities:
- Demonstrating ability and experience in five leadership domains: leads self, engages others, achieves results, develops partnerships and leverage information-driven and goal-oriented processes in driving change and improvement
- Developing and implementing the clinical service, functional and strategic plans for the department in collaboration with the broader program leadership team
- Identifying the required organizational supports and structures for safe and efficient operation for the department
- Enhancing the community linkages to support patients and their families
- Establishing a professional practice climate that encourages an interprofessional approach to patient care
- Ensuring that patient care is provided according to professional practice and corporate standards
- Actively supporting the development of new innovative programs and engagement initiatives
- Effectively managing the financial, human, physical space and equipment of the departments in alignment with Osler's strategic plans
- Developing effective processes for selecting, evaluating and maintaining material/equipment needed for enhancing patient care
- Working collaboratively with the clinical nurse educators, program leaders and the program team in reducing waste, adding value, raising standards, improving effectiveness and delivering high team performance
- Supporting agreed upon evaluation and outcome criteria to drive timely delivery of outputs; analysis of data, interpretation of data and provide feedback to the team on findings
- Developing and maintaining effective interdepartmental relationships and team-focused culture
- Identifying initiatives and opportunity to continuously improve the patient and family experience at Osler
Qualifications
- Health discipline professional designation and Undergraduate degree required (relevant Masters an asset)
- Minimum of two years recent leadership experience and clinical experience in women's and children's services required
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships and collaboration with inter-professional teams and external regional partners
- Demonstrated effective communication, team building, problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated effective judgment and innovative change management skills
- Demonstrated effective planning and project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to utilize quality, safety and risk-based frameworks to facilitate and build the use of critical thinking, priority setting and problem-solving skills across the team
- Knowledge of collective agreements and working experience in a unionized environment preferred
- Excellent written, verbal communication and documentation skills
- Detail oriented with excellent organization and time management skills
- Effective leadership skills with the proven ability to develop high performing teams
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent problem solving and change management skills

- Ability to travel between Osler sites

Additional Information
Hours: Currently days, 8 hours with some evenings, weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

SALARY:
Minimum: $56.12 per hour
Maximum: $70.15 per hour
