Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop Post Sputter Engineering processes, with a focus on lubrication and tape polish.
- Qualify new processes by conducting evaluations, collecting data, and interpreting results using statistical tools.
- Participate in and lead Post Sputter Engineering activities within New Product Introduction (NPI) task forces.
- Coordinate New Product Introduction (NPI) runs in the post-sputter process area.
- Document processes, procedures, and best practices.
- Use tools such as Minitab and Spotfire to support data-driven decision-making.
- Participate in and lead FMEA, Process Verification, and IMS activities related to post-sputter processes.
- Collaborate with Maintenance Engineering, QA, Analytics, and other teams to drive process improvements.
This position is part of our Early Career program at WD. Our Early Career program is designed to support individuals beginning their professional career by providing the foundational training through a structured onboarding, mentorship, and development curriculum.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Degree in Materials Science, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Applied Science, or a related field.
PREFERRED:
- Hands-on experience with XPS, ToF-SIMS, AFM, Raman spectroscopy, and ellipsometry, with the ability to independently interpret spectra and develop film property models from raw data.
SKILLS
- Proficient in applying analytics and AI models to develop new processes.
- Able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English, as the role requires collaboration with cross-site teams in the US and China.
