The Breastfeeding Coordinator, under the guidelines of State WIC Program, is responsible for creating and developing the Breastfeeding Education Plan. The role will be responsible for overseeing all program activities, reporting to the clinic WIC Director. 

Essential Functions:

• Assists in establishing program goals and objectives.
• Assists in establishing peer counseling program protocols and policies.
• Assists Program Director in determining peer counselor staffing needs.
• Arranges for training of peer counselors.
• Mentors new peer counselors during the first six months, providing routine
follow-up and guidance in the early days of the job.
• Communicates monthly meetings with peer counselors.
• Collects documentation records and data as appropriate.
• Monitors the program, including conducting spot checks.
• Carries out other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Requirements: 

• Has credentials of an International Board Certified Lactation Consult (IBCLC) or has
other certification in lactation management (e.g., CLE, CLC) or State-approved training
in lactation management.
• Has a minimum of one year experience counseling breastfeeding women.
• Some related experience, preferably in breastfeeding counseling with extensive knowledge of WIC policies and procedures.
• Requires a valid Texas Driver's License, appropriate driving record and auto liability
insurance that meets the minimum required by State of Texas statute.
