About the project
A full-service marketing agency is looking for an experienced freelance Media Buyer/Planner to cover a team member's leave. You'll join the media team and report to a senior media lead. You'll manage day-to-day planning, buying and reporting across a portfolio of higher education, secondary education and nonprofit clients. This is a hands-on role for someone who can plug in quickly and keep campaigns running smoothly.

What you'll do

  • Build, launch and optimize multi-channel campaigns across search, display, pre-roll, social and traditional media, working directly in platforms or through vendors
  • Develop and adjust media plans for small to mid-sized budgets, in partnership with senior media staff
  • Handle buying, trafficking, campaign setup, QA and billing, with accurate tracking and documentation
  • Prepare performance reports with clear insights and optimization recommendations
  • Coordinate with vendors on placements and pricing to maximize client value
  • Support account teams with media recommendations and research as needed

Qualifications

What you bring

  • 2–4 years of hands-on media buying and planning experience, ideally agency-side
  • Experience with Google Ads, Microsoft (Bing) Ads, Google Marketing Platform (DV360, SA360, Campaign Manager) and ad-serving tools
  • Experience across paid search, paid social, programmatic and online video
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple campaigns and shifting priorities
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Comfortable getting up to speed quickly on new accounts, tools and processes

Nice to have

  • Experience with higher education, secondary education or nonprofit clients
  • Regional/local media planning and buying knowledge, particularly in Upstate New York
