About the Role
Are you passionate about Civil Construction and excellent at leading a mid size team of earthworks contractors and consultants?
We’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer – Construction to manage landfill and site development projects from start to finish. You’ll be involved in everything from planning and design through to delivery and reporting.
This is a dynamic and rewarding role where you’ll play a key part in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Plan and deliver landfill and site development projects
- Coordinate audits, airspace reports, and construction modelling
- Prepare whole-of-life cost estimates and infrastructure plans
- Manage capital expenditure applications and monitor project budgets
- Develop pre-construction estimates, pricing, and schedules of quantities
- Prepare contract documentation, technical reports, drawings, and specifications
- Monitor project progress to ensure safety, quality, and budget targets are met
- Work with regulatory bodies to ensure environmental compliance
- Provide as-built records and maintenance manuals at project completion
- Estimate landfill provision and closure costs for budgeting
- Conduct project modelling and analysis for landfill and transfer station projects
- Manage civil works and landfill rehabilitation projects (including cell and cap design)
- Oversee day-to-day contractor and subcontractor management
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- At least 5 years’ experience in civil construction, earthworks, or landfill projects
- A strong track record in health and safety performance
- Proven experience managing contractors and earthworks machinery
- Working knowledge of NZS 3910 (or similar), contract administration, and cost management systems
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills
- Experience with 12d and/or AutoCAD (preferred)
- A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering
