Chemist

  • Full-time

Company Description

At WM New Zealand, we are the largest composter, the largest waste-to-energy provider and have the largest commercial electric fleet in New Zealand, all powered by electricity from waste. As a team, we are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to redirect, neutralise and use waste.

Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical and analytical advice to our Sales team and the wider operational team.  On-site, you will be responsible for analytical equipment calibration, troubleshooting production issues and running treatability trials to select and verify their suitability.  Part of this role will require you to liaise with external customers on a collection of hazardous substances and chemical non-compliance incidents.

Qualifications

Our ideal person will have a degree in Chemistry, Earth Science or Environmental Science, proven experience in sampling, categorising hazardous waste, trade waste and solid waste, and knowledge of international testing procedures and industry-standard laboratory practice knowledge.

You are analytical with the ability to clearly articulate and break down complex issues to both internal and external stakeholders.  You enjoy troubleshooting and aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and get down to the nuts and bolts. We are committed to a zero-harm culture, and you will take all practicable steps to ensure personal safety and the safety of others in the workplace.

You will be joining a dynamic and engaging team and providing personal development opportunities.  If you thrive on challenge and opportunity, then this is the role for you!
