You will enable services that help children to study after dark, small stores to stay open longer, and fishermen to improve the size of their catch at night. Our service consists of custom-built third party hardware, in-house systems and third party APIs.

Job Description

As an Engineering Manager, you will help your team and product grow. You will act as an enabler for your team, unblocking issues, communicating with business stakeholders and managing the product roadmap for the product owned by your team. You will be directly involved in creating technical project specification from roadmap items, and translating these into backlog items.

You will also act as a mentor and leader by providing technical leadership via code reviews and technical direction. On a people management level, you will help your team members grow in both their careers, and as individuals, by conducting regular 1on1s and goal setting.

Qualifications

  • A degree in computer science or a relevant field, experience in designing and developing APIs, and some understanding of transaction and data processing systems.
  • 2 or more years of experience managing a team of 3+ members in a technical leadership role.
  • General familiarity with SQL and other database technologies.
  • Working understanding of and interest in SRE related topics and their practical application.
  • “You build it, you run it” attitude: experience or interest in fully engineering owned product development. 
  • Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Bazel, Django and Terraform is a very strong plus.
