Who will you be working with?

The Digital Intelligence Software & Systems (DI S&S) team is a dedicated group of engineering professionals, committed to delivering high-quality software engineering results in both the train control and general control system spaces. As a team built on open communication and collaborative problem-solving, we continuously strive to improve our processes and outputs.

With a focus on engineering prowess, the team is comprised of people with diverse backgrounds within the engineering space; from mechanical engineers to software & IT professionals and quality assurance. Our common passion for delivering robust and modern solutions drives us to go above and beyond in supporting the organization’s objectives.

How will you make a difference?

As a Software Engineer in the DI S&S team, you will be part of a team fundamental to the delivery of these systems is Wabtec’s t-visor Platform, a modern, highly available, configurable and extensible platform. In your role in this team, you will be responsible for:

• Design and development of platform features
• Participating in peer review and open discussions on designs
• Following best practices coding standards
• Adapting and responding to changing technologies
• Testing and deployment of system critical software

The successful candidate will demonstrate not just coding excellence, but a comprehensive approach to software engineering that considers system-wide performance, scalability, and long-term maintainability.

What do we want to know about you?

Your Background:

• Be proficient in object-oriented, memory-managed languages such as C# or Java
• Basic networking knowledge
• Ability to effectively communicate and excel within an agile team environment
• Passionate learner with a keen interest in further developing your software engineering skills
• Quick problem solving and adaptability skills
• Self-motivated and passionate about contributing to company growth and the rail industry
• Ability to view problems from a big-picture perspective
• Have a good understanding of source control such as Git

Your Qualifications:

• Bachelor's in Engineering/Information Technology/Computer Science or equivalent

Your Experience:

• 1-4 years’ experience in a software engineering role

Desirable:

• Experience with WCF, WPF or .NET 10
• Experience with MVVM or MVC design principles
• Experience in writing C or other non-memory-managed languages
• Experience in programming SCADA systems
• Experience with PLC or RTU programming
• Experience with train controls systems

What will your typical day look like?

• Team-wide standup to discuss upcoming work and coordinate efforts with colleagues
• Developing software solutions
• Documenting design
• Participating in team-wide design discussions and presentations
• Interfacing with internal teams and third-parties to develop cross-system integrations
• Supporting investigations into feasibility of functional changes, and supporting maintenance teams in delivering enhancements to software functionality
• Exposure to innovative software projects
