Job Description

As an Engineer within VISA, you will be joining a highly collaborative, forward-thinking team of technologists who are building solutions to be used by millions of people across the globe. Our experienced team is committed to leveraging your talent and ambition and to ensure that you realize your maximum potential. We don’t expect you to know everything; we favour attitude and ability over experience. You will be involved in challenging work every day, expanding your technical abilities, and gaining an appreciation of the whole product development lifecycle.  

You will be a member of a professional team. Your software will be implemented in production and will be used by thousands of people around the world, making their life easier and deliver their money.

Essential Functions:  

  • Work on our platform for next generation customer present payments
  • Have the opportunity to work with the latest technologies stack [Java and Spring].
  • Build scalable solutions using Kubernetes and Docker on AWS
  • Gain first-hand exposure to the multiple facets of the software development lifecycle working within an Agile environment that embraces Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Development and QA automation

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferably with a focus on Computer Science, Informatics, Mathematics or equivalent
  • You will be available for 11 weeks starting in either June or July 2023 
  • You are eager to learn the skills required to deliver features end-to-end, like backend web services or mobile SDK
  • You have a growth mindset and want to take on new challenges outside of your comfort zone  
  • You have a good coding ability within object-oriented languages such as Java, Kotlin, C#, C++ 
  • You possess good communication skills, you speak English, and you welcome the opportunity to collaborate in a tight knit, agile team-oriented group.

Nice to have: 

  • Understanding of clean code principles – SOLID, KISS, DRY, Clean Architecture
  • A passion for the software engineering discipline; examples of work you have completed outside of the core curriculum is a plus  
  • Experience with the application development lifecycle, CI/CD
  • Experience with Microservices, Spring Boot and/or experience in mobile development.
